Another month, another featured coffee we’re eager to dive into!

If you’re looking for some of the best coffee beans, Colombia holds quite the reputation throughout the coffee belt. For August, we’re highlighting our Colombia Tolima coffee that comes from our Deeper Roots family. This single-origin coffee showcases the strong relationships built with coffee farmers and exporters in the Ibagué region of Tolima, Colombia.

When It All Began…

Back in November 2013, Deeper Roots’ Director of Coffee, Adam Shaw, traveled to the coffee-growing region of Tolima to see first-hand the quality of the coffee farms. While there, Adam had the privilege of visiting five different farms. He was able to cup coffee with the farmers and essentially create connections that would last over a decade. Fast-forward 11 years (with many visits in between), Deeper Roots and Vienna Coffee continue their relationship with this incredible coffee-producing region, along with their exporting partners Pergamino Coffee Exporters.

About the Coffee Region

Our Colombia Tolima coffee is from the growing areas surrounding Ibagué. Pergamino collaborates with around 50 dedicated coffee growers to bring this coffee to life. It all comes together in Ibagué, where they have a warehouse and a cupping lab to ensure every batch is top-notch in quality and consistency before being added to the lots for export. Fun fact: Tolima isn’t just known for coffee – it’s also Colombia’s number one producer of rice and sesame. Talk about a multifaceted region!

About the Coffee Beans

Here at Vienna Coffee Company, we’ve perfected the roast for this specialty coffee to bring out the best flavors. Expect a light medium roast with tasting notes of cocoa, maple, and honeydew. The acidity is bright and lively, while the mouthfeel is heavy and full – each sip is pure delight.
