April is Earth Month, and here at Vienna Coffee Company, we’re celebrating with sustainability tips, environmental education, and a spotlight on our green initiatives. From packaging to power, here's how we're setting ourselves up for a better, more sustainable future.
🌱 Compostable & Recyclable Packaging
We proudly serve our drinks in industrially compostable or recyclable cups and use straw-less lids on our beverages. If a customer is in need of a straw, we provide compostable, yet sturdy, straws. We have also taken steps to package our coffee using recyclable coffee bags. Once you are finished with your coffee, you can bring in your coffee bag and recycle it at the bin provided in the cafe. These are small changes that make a big impact when multiplied across thousands of cups and coffee served every month.
🌞 Solar-Powered Operations
Thanks to our recent solar panel installation, our Maryville Roastery and Coffee House now run on renewable energy - we even send energy overage back to the grid for other businesses and residences nearby to use! You can see how much energy we produce, and the carbon emissions we save, but visiting our usage site.
The Solar Panels are located on the top of our Downtown Maryville Cafe, and provide energy for our operations and beyond!
🔁 Reusable Crates for Wholesale Deliveries
We’ve replaced single-use boxes with durable, reusable plastic crates for wholesale deliveries. It’s one more way we’re minimizing waste across our supply chain.
Sheena, our Customer Service guru, models the new reusable crates for wholesale deliveries.
♻️ Repurposing Coffee Byproducts
We offer used coffee grounds, coffee chaff, and wooden pallets for free. Many of our customers use them in their gardens, compost piles, or DIY projects. These freebies are located just outside our Roastery on the back patio and it's first come, first served!
🌍 Relationship-Based, Sustainable Sourcing
We source our coffee through long-standing relationships with producers who share our values, because we believe that great coffee starts at origin. These partnerships aren’t transactional, rather; they’re rooted in mutual respect, transparency, and a shared commitment to sustainability. Many of the farms we work with practice shade-grown cultivation, which protects biodiversity, improves soil health, and provides critical habitat for migratory birds. Others are certified organic or use regenerative practices that reduce chemical use and support long-term ecological balance.
By prioritizing these relationships, we’re able to offer coffee that not only tastes exceptional but also supports farming communities and protects the planet. It’s a model of sourcing that invests in people, preserves ecosystems, and ensures a better future for coffee.
☕ Bring Your Own Mug
We love to see reusable travel mugs! Bring your own and we’ll pour you a $2 drip coffee. And just to make that deal a little sweeter, we are offering 10% off all reusable drinkware in the cafe and online. Use the promo code REUSE10 on your next online order from April 14–22, 2025 to take advantage of this Earth Day deal!
AT VIENNA COFFEE COMPANY…
Our dedication to ensuring that we are a market leader in craft coffee throughout the southeast dictates that we apply the same critical scrutiny used for our complete coffee lineup to any product we offer.
This commitment demonstrates our continued pursuit to provide craft coffee that enriches the lives of customers and producers alike by providing an experience grounded in excellence and hospitality. We custom pick our green coffee beans from regions across The Coffee Belt and always seek responsible sourcing from seed to cup.
Our roasting team ensures each bean varietal is roasted according to its characteristics to enhance its peak flavors. Vienna Coffee Company goes further by evaluating each varietal harvest through coffee cuppings to evaluate and adjust its roasting profile.
