Vienna Coffee Co. coffees earn four Bronze Medals

VCC Roasters, Trace & Avi, with Golden Bean bronze medal coffees

Over one-hundred artisanal coffee roasters from across North America gathered in Columbus, Ohio for the 2022 Golden Bean North America awards after a three-year hiatus. Nearly 1000 different coffees were submitted and judged in what is the eighth year for this highly caffeinated competition. In addition to one of Vienna Coffee Company’s (VCC) own coffee roaster, Avi Carmical, a myriad of coffee professionals attended including baristas, roasters, coffee importers, and equipment suppliers.

The three-day judging round for the coveted Golden Bean involves coffee samplings prepared, served, and scored within specific parameters of ten different categories. Coffees can be submitted to one or multiple categories with the three primary classifications being espresso, milk drinks (think lattes), and filter coffee. Recap of Golden Bean 2022 Competition

Competing coffees are brewed with stringent guidelines for each category. Conference attendees then score each for sweetness, acidity, body, and balance. Head judges oversee the process to ensure integrity and score each coffee themselves before awards are given.

Eight Bronze Medals after Five Competition Years

VCC has participated in Golden Bean North America five times since 2015 and has brought home eight bronze medal! Our first four years of participation gained one bronze each year, but in 2022 our roasting team brought home four bronze medals across three categories!
